AT LAST!!
After more than a year of waiting and uncertainty the Home Office has finally announced that Hemswell Cliff is OFF their list of potential sites for an Asylum Center.
We owe a vote of thanks to all who assisted in the fight to make the government see that this site is inappropriate, especially the people of Hemswell Cliff and the surrounding villages who wrote letters and joined in in whatever way they were able. What is the action group?
We are a group of residents of Hemswell Cliff and the surrounding villages who have banded together to share ideas and to encourage and promote action against the government plans to build an accommodation center for 750 asylum seekers in rural Lincolnshire.
WE ARE NOT OBJECTING TO THESE PLANS ON RACIAL GROUNDS NOR ARE WE AFFLIATED IN ANY WAY WITH ANY POLITICAL PARTY.
Our objections would be just as strong if the plans were to build a center for 750 monks or 750 Home Office civil servants. We are not a formal committee, we are not elected nor do we have the exclusive right to speak on this issue. We are doing this because we feel strongly and see the need. If anyone else wishes to take or promote lawful action, they will not have a problem with us.
